"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on." -- Winston Churchill.

That is the introduction to one reputation-management Web site.

Members of the Richmond chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will get tips from a nationally recognized speaker on reputation management at their meeting Wednesday.

Mike Paul, president and senior counselor of MGP & Associates PR in New York City and editor of The Reputation Doctor blog www.reputationdoctor.com, will share tips at PRSA Richmond's luncheon meeting at 11:45 a.m. at the Sheraton Richmond West, 6624 W. Broad St.

"We're excited," said Alissa Poole, PRSA Richmond's program chairwoman. "Mike has a variety of tips that will help all of us better manage customers and clients at any time."

Using case studies of current news events, Paul will provide information about preserving a company's or a client's reputation during a crisis. After lunch, he will offer a two-hour professional-development seminar in which he will offer an in-depth analysis of the Michael Vick case, the Virginia Tech tragedy, Mattel's Chinese toy crisis and more.

The cost of the luncheon is $30 for nonmembers and $15 for students. For details, contact Sara Hunt at (804) 357-8417 or e-mail prsarichmond@comcast.net.
